Rosie Remixed Original Acrylic Painting, 18 × 24, Rosie the Riveter Inspired Art by A.LaB
We’ve been told we can do it. We did it. Now let’s do it again.
Rosie Remixed reimagines Rosie the Riveter as an older Black woman, bringing a lifetime of experience to a familiar symbol of strength.
This piece was inspired partly by a conversation with my mother about the hardships older generations have already survived and the challenges we’re facing today. What does “We Can Do It!” mean when you’ve already done it, lived through it, and find yourself being asked to do it again?
With bright color, familiar imagery, and a little attitude, Rosie Remixed celebrates perseverance while acknowledging what it takes to keep going. She’s a reminder of the women who have carried us this far and still have something to say.
